Craving ice cream? You can find The Brown Cow Ice Cream Parlor tucked away on Madison Street in Forest Park, IL.
Forest Park, IL boasts an assortment of restaurants, antiquing, and specialty stores dotting it’s main street so it’s actually pretty easy to miss The Brown Cow. The exterior is a little nondescript but upon closer inspection you note the cow, the words ice cream..and that’s enough really.
What’s special about this place is their extensive menu. They’ve got ice cream, pies, ice cream pies, sundaes, cakes, cupcakes, shakes, floats, and malts. Flavors include everything from rainbow sherbet, chocolate chip, bubblegum, blueberry granola yogurt, pralines n’ cream and a lot of their classic flavors (chocolate, vanilla, butter pecan, strawberry, coffee, mint chip, pistachio, etc.) are homemade, which YES. Just YES.
It does look like they rotate flavors, because more flavors and ice cream diversity is everything and I WILL be going back in the fall for some pumpkin pie and vanilla ice cream. I was stalking Yelp and saw someone ordered that and I just wish I had the foresight to order it today.
The aesthetic of the Brown Cow follows an old fashioned parlor design scheme and reminded me a lot of the ice cream parlor they have at the Museum of Science and Industry.
They do let you sample and the staff was very attentive.
This is a great #sweetspot located in the suburbs of Chicago. I highly recommend stopping by and next summer don’t forget to take part in their ice cream trough eating contest because you just missed it (7.15.16).
